Sharjah24: As part of the 43rd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), organised by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) with the theme ‘It Starts with a Book’," at Expo Centre Sharjah until November 17, Kuwaiti author and crime novelist Fayez Al Qurashi shared insights into his latest works, his experiences at the SIBF, and the creative process behind his unique crime fiction novels.
Al Qurashi shared his excitement in an interview with “Sharjah24” about his participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair with Masar Publishing. He emphasised his impact on crime fiction, with 12 published works, encompassing both novels and story collections, which have garnered him several awards.

He shared that his love for reading, especially within the crime genre, took root in his early years. His enthusiasm drove him to become a specialised crime writer, an area he defined as both demanding and uncommon, requiring considerable intellectual and mental dedication.

Al-Qurashi introduced his latest novel, Sakura’s Killer, a blend of Japanese culture and crime fiction. He shared that his inspiration often comes from characters he encounters in books or on screen, sparking his creative process, though his own characters are completely original. He expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the Sharjah Book Fair, eager to engage with the varied audience of readers present at the event.
