National Padel team reaches quarter-finals, faces Portugal

Sharjah 24: UAE National Padel team made history by qualifying for the quarter-finals of the World Championship for the first time, defeating Mexico 2-1. The match took place at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, attended by notable figures including Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE Padel Association (UAEPA).
Ranked 16th globally, the team will face Portugal, ranked 4th, in the quarter-finals after overcoming the 10th-ranked Mexican team. The duo Arnau Ayats and Fran Jurado secured the first win 6-2, 6-0, while Fares Al-Janahi and Majed Al-Janahi lost the second match. The final match was clinched by Inigo Goy and Sergio Icardo with a score of 6-4, 6-1. 

Sheikh Saeed congratulated Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the team's achievement and expressed gratitude for the support that has propelled padel's growth in the UAE. He commended the team's performance and optimism for the sport's future.
