SWSC’s basketball team keeps League Lead with win

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Women's Sports Club (SWSC's) fundamental basketball team has secured its leading status in the Women's General League by winning over its longstanding competitor, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy ( FBMA ), with a final score of 56-35.
The victory was achieved during the second round of the preliminary stage's second phase, which took place at Baniyas Sports Hall on Saturday. In the latest round, Sharjah Women’s Eastern Branch secured a victory against the Central Branch, finishing with a score of 61-46.

The Sharjah main team has secured another victory, maintaining its position at the top of the league with a total of 10 points from five consecutive undefeated matches. The team has demonstrated unwavering commitment and skill in their pursuit of the league title this season.

The Eastern Branch currently occupies second place, having secured eight points through three victories and two defeats. Meanwhile, the Central Branch sits in third place, earning six points from one win and four losses. The Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy holds the fourth position, accumulating six points through one victory and four defeats.

The Basketball Federation has announced the postponement of the upcoming league round, which was originally set for November 2, now rescheduled to November 9. 

The main Sharjah basketball team is set to compete in the Manama Cup 3x3 Championship next week following this modification. After the conclusion of the first stage on November 9, the four teams in competition will move on to the league finals, where the champion for the 2024-2025 season and the final rankings will be established.

Sharjah’s head coach, Waleed Al Hajiri, expressed satisfaction with the team’s recent win and league lead, highlighting the importance of defeating Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy on their home court. He noted that after a moderate start in the first quarter, Sharjah took control from the second quarter, allowing more young players to participate and securing a 21-point victory.
