Sharjah24 - WAM: The UAE Floating Hospital in Al Arish has performed several complex, specialised surgeries requiring laparoscopic intervention for Palestinian patients and injured individuals. This initiative is part of the medical support provided by the UAE under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, launched by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to alleviate the humanitarian crisis facing Palestinian people in Gaza.
The hospital's medical team successfully completed two surgeries requiring laparoscopic intervention. The first surgery was for a female patient suffering from recurrent dislocation of the right shoulder, an injury sustained during the conflict. The procedure involved joint repair and alignment, and she is currently undergoing physical therapy, showing improved shoulder mobility. The second surgery was performed on a female patient with complications in her right knee joint, caused by fractures sustained during the Gaza conflict, which prevented her from bending her knee. The surgery involved clearing the joint and removing adhesions, restoring knee flexibility of up to 120 degrees.
Performing such surgeries at the UAE Floating Hospital presents a significant challenge, as these complex procedures are usually conducted in specialised major hospitals. They require laparoscopic interventions, including knee arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, cartilage grafting, and shoulder arthroscopy for muscle repair and stabilisation of recurrent dislocations. However, the skill of the medical team at the floating hospital and the availability of advanced equipment contributed to the success of these surgeries.
These dedicated UAE humanitarian efforts aim to ease the suffering of the wounded and injured amid the challenging conditions facing the Palestinian people in Gaza.
