Sharjah 24: Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, visited the Sharjah Government Pavilion at GITEX 2024, where he explored the latest innovations and technology projects aimed at enhancing digital transformation and improving government services in the emirate.
He commended the efforts to drive technological advancement and achieve digital leadership, which align with Sharjah's vision for a sustainable digital future.

On the third day of the event, Sharjah showcased its commitment to digital transformation by launching advanced initiatives. Notably, Sharjah Municipality introduced a smart inspection device for managing its central laboratories—the first of its kind in the UAE—designed to examine construction-related plastic products.

Additionally, the Sharjah Digital Authority launched the Sharjah Real Estate Services Platform (Aqari), a unified digital platform aimed at simplifying real estate services and enhancing user experience across the emirate, supporting sustainable development.

The Sharjah Planning and Survey Department has initiated the "Area Planning with Artificial Intelligence" project, aimed at enhancing city planning methodologies as a crucial component in the development of smart and sustainable urban environments within the emirate.

This project leverages advanced analytical tools for geographic data and incorporates spatial artificial intelligence technologies to facilitate the planning of new areas in accordance with contemporary standards and diverse urban requirements. Additionally, it aspires to promote sustainable development and elevate the quality of life in Sharjah by fostering innovation in urban development, thereby improving efficiency and economic equilibrium, all aligned with the emirate's strategic vision for the future.

Sharjah University City presented the "Sharjah University City - City of the Future" project, a groundbreaking model for smart cities that emphasises quality of life and environmental sustainability. The initiative features three innovative systems.

The first is a smart irrigation system that automates traditional irrigation, enabling precise control over valves and efficient water flow management, while also monitoring for potential malfunctions to optimise water resource use.

Next, an automated lighting system reduces energy consumption by electronically managing streetlights and adjusting brightness levels during off-peak hours, enhancing overall energy efficiency.

Lastly, a vehicle counting system aids traffic management by tracking vehicle numbers and monitoring movement during peak times, helping to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow within the university City.
