SEDD, UAEICP sign MoU to implement single window system

Sharjah24: Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (UAEICP) to enhance cooperation between the two parties through the implementation of the “single window” system.
The system contributes to facilitating and developing the procedures for issuing and renewing the necessary licenses for economic establishments in Sharjah.

The agreement falls within the mutual concerns to improve institutional partnership between government agencies in order to improve regulatory services in accordance with the best approved practices that adopt the use of modern technology to serve customers.

The MoU was signed by Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, and Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shamsi, Executive Director of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah.

The MoU aims to enhance digital transformation in all transactions related to licensing establishments in Sharjah, to improve the customer experience, within the for accelerating and linking government procedures in an integrated digital system.

Commenting on the MoU, Hamad Ali Abdulla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, stressed that signing this MoU reflects SEDD’s concerns to develop government services in line with the vision of the wise leadership in enhancing the business environment and attracting investments.

He added that the implementation of the single window system will greatly facilitate procedures and enhance cooperation and coordination between various government agencies, which will contribute to raising the efficiency of performance and providing distinguished and fast services to the business community.

Additionally, he clarified that these efforts contribute to achieving common goals that serve the public interest, in a way that enhances and improves the performance of the national economy and supports the competitiveness of all economic sectors.

Likely, it helps to create an environment that encourages investment and exchanges expertise and knowledge, thus to raise the level of running commercial dealings and organising businesses between the two sides.

Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shamsi, Executive Director of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah, stated that UAEICP is keen to support and stimulate the attractiveness of the business environment in the country, and enable it to attract entrepreneurs and enable economic establishments to practice their business.

This is based on the powers granted to Authority in placing laws, in a way that supports the process of sustainable development and enhances the competitiveness of UAE in international forums as a global destination for investment and development.

Furthermore, Al Shamsi said that the Authority provides many distinguished proactive services to the business sector, company owners and capitalists, and hence lies the importance of the agreement signed with SEDD, as it is one of the leading local government institutions that regulates and monitors the issuance of licences for economic establishments in Sharjah.

Moreover, Al Shamsi pointed out that the Authority will provide support to the Department in the field of granting entry permits, initial approvals, issuing the establishment card and other mutual services through the single window system to facilitate clients and investors and enable them to obtain services as quickly as possible and with high quality by activating the electronic link with SEDD.
