Sharjah24: Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of Sharjah Rulers Office in Khorfakkan and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in Kalba were the guests of honour of the Vice President’s Cup Running Championship (VPCRC). This event took place on Saturday at the Al Hefaiyah Lake track in Kalba, organised by the UAE Athletics Federation in partnership with the Sharjah Sports Council and Kalba Sports and Cultural Club.
Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al Murr, President of the UAE Athletics Federation has revealed that over 350 athletes will take part in the championship, which includes four categories: juniors (boys and girls), cadets, youth (male and female), and adults (men and women).
The event wrapped up with an award ceremony featuring Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, accompanied by numerous officials and representatives from different sports clubs.
Dr. Al Murr highlighted that the competition indicates the beginning of the 2024-2025 sports season. The picturesque Al Hefaiyah Lake area has been selected as the location, recognised for being one of Kalba’s most stunning tourist attractions.
Kalba Sports Club has achieved first place in both the youth and juniors categories, while Hatta Club has taken the top spot in the men’s section.
