Sharjah24: During the 13th edition of the Senior Citizens Services Forum, the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) paid tribute to 16 senior citizens who were recipients of the "Green Heart" award. The ceremony took place at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah.
The award categories encompassed four distinct areas: cultural, social, health, and professional. Their primary objective was to activate the untapped potential of elderly individuals and leverage their wealth of experience to contribute to the emirate and society. Additionally, the awards sought to bolster the confidence of seniors by highlighting their continued ability to make meaningful contributions to society.

In the category of "Active Seniors," encompassing individuals aged between 60 and 79, Mohammed Hassan Haji Al Marzouqi claimed the first position, while Sabah Abdullah Mohammed Al Naqeeb secured the second position in the cultural field.

In the realm of social achievement, Abdullah Mohammed Rafi Al Mansouri secured the top position, with Maitha Saif Ali Al Suwaqi Al Ali following closely in second place, and Fatima Khalifa Rashid bin Samha Al Shamsi achieving third place.

In the field of health, Ali Saeed Bin Muail Al Ketbi achieved first place, followed by Fatima Issa Ali in second place, and Khadija Mohammed Hassan in third place.

During the professional competition, Latifa Salem Khalifa achieved first place, Sheikha Ahmed Obaid Alai Al Naqbi secured second place, and Halima Ahmed Saif Al Naqbi attained third place.

In the "Advanced Aging" category, encompassing individuals aged 80 years and above, Maryam Ali Saleh secured first place in the social field, while Mona Ahmed Mohammed attained second place.

In the field of health, Fatima Ali Ibrahim secured first place, with Sheikha Ali Mohammed Al Kindi following in second place, and Aisha Salem Hamid Al Tunaiji in third place.

Asma Al Khadiri, the Director of the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Office at the Social Services Department, emphasized that the Green Heart Award underscores the department's unwavering dedication to supporting senior citizens and effectively involving them in community life. She emphasized that empowering individuals in this stage of life is not only a social responsibility but also a recognition of their substantial contributions over the years. Al Khadiri noted that the foundation leverages this award to inspire the elderly to serve as role models for the youth and future generations.

The statement affirms Sharjah's commitment to delivering exceptional and comprehensive care for senior citizens, in line with the emirate's efforts to become an age-friendly city. It also underscores the department's dedication to endorsing activities and programs that enrich the lives of the elderly, offering them opportunities for meaningful community involvement across various domains.

The Green Heart Award is dedicated to honoring senior citizens as part of Sharjah's Age-Friendly City initiatives. This is aligned with the "Community Participation" axis, one of the eight axes of the World Health Organization's Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities. The award aims to further the emirate's vision and humanitarian approach to social well-being.
