Sharjah24 - WAM: Lebanon's Caretaker Minister of Information Ziad Makary expressed the gratitude of the Lebanese government and people to the UAE, in appreciation of the great support provided amid the difficult circumstances Lebanon is facing due to the Israeli war.
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during his visit to France, Makary praised the UAE's swift response as the first country to send humanitarian and medical assistance, which arrived at a critical time for Lebanon.
He underscored the significance of this support, describing it as a lifeline for a country grappling with severe shortages of medical supplies and essential goods. Makari noted that the UAE has committed $100 million in aid and continues to send vital supplies that are greatly needed.
"This is not just about aid; it's a profound expression of Arab unity," he stated.
Makary also thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Egypt for their continuous support during the crisis.
He went on to commend the UAE's rapid deployment of aircraft to deliver aid, stressing that the assistance comes at a time when Lebanon is facing both humanitarian and health crises amid ongoing Israeli aggression.
Regarding the situation on the ground, he denounced Israel's aggression, describing it as "brutal and unjustified," aimed at destroying Lebanon's infrastructure and targeting civilians.
Makary urged the international community to take immediate action to stop the escalating violence, which he warned could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe.
Lebanon's Caretaker Minister of Information voiced concern about the severity of the situation, comparing Lebanon's current condition to that of Gaza and calling for urgent international intervention.
He explained that Lebanon is being bombarded daily, with Beirut, the Beqaa Governorate, Mount Lebanon and the South being regular targets of Israeli airstrikes.
"We always hold on to the slim hope of diplomatic solutions, but we face a harsh reality on the ground—Lebanon is under continuous bombardment, 24 hours a day. The situation is unprecedentedly dire, and we hope for international solutions to halt this aggression threatening our stability and future," Makary stressed.
He concluded by stressing the importance of continued Arab and international support, noting that Lebanon is at a critical juncture and needs all the assistance it can get to navigate the crisis.
