Sharjah 24: The 2024 edition of the Al Dhaid Date Festival concluded late on Sunday at Expo Al Dhaid, on a high note with resounding success, drawing thousands of visitors throughout its four-day run.
Organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the festival generated sales amounting to AED 1 million, cementing its position as a top-tier event in that dates agriculture and trading sector. 

Held from October 3 to 6, the festival featured extensive participation of date producers and palm owners from across the UAE, alongside key government and private sector representatives. 

The event also included platforms and pavilions dedicated to local productive families engaged in the date industry, offering an opportunity to engage with consumers and showcase a diverse range of products and industries related to date palm cultivation.

The date market, held as part of the festival's agenda, served as a major attraction for visitors and traders eager to purchase the finest varieties of dates at competitive prices. Among the festival's other highlights is the dates auction, which garnered wide participation from date farmers and traders, resulting in significant business deals.

The festival also featured various competitions organised by the Sharjah Chamber, including the "Best Stuffed Date Dish" contest. Exclusively for women, the competition offered valuable prizes for winners for creating diverse dishes and innovative products made from premium dates.

Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the Sharjah Chamber, stated that the Al Dhaid Dates Festival has become one of the prominent events supported by the Sharjah Chamber. It plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable development within Sharjah’s agricultural sector, particularly in palm cultivation and dates trading. 

This, in turn, enhances the emirate's exports and creates opportunities for local productive families to manufacture and market diverse heritage products. The success of this year’s Al Dhaid Dates Festival help motivate palm owners to boost production and elevate the quality of their products.

For his part, Mohammad Musabah Al Tunaiji, General Coordinator of Al Dhaid Date Festival and Director of Expo Al Dhaid, emphasized that the festival achieved notable success, with increased participation from palm farmers. 

This year’s festival offered an ideal platform for farmers to showcase their date products and connect with consumers and traders. Furthermore, the growth in sales and business deals made during the festival benefited local exhibitors and palm farmers, contributing to their economic growth and expansion.

The festival also offered visitors an opportunity to explore different varieties and types of dates, especially that showcased at the productive families’ pavilion.

Aside from date products, the 2024 edition of the Al Dhaid Date Festival featured a series of cultural activities and programs, including performances by folklore bands, all displayed within the charming heritage atmosphere of the Al Dhaid city that hosted the event during four days of fun-filled activities.
