Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) is participating in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2024, organised by the General Authority for Literature, Publishing and Translation under the theme "Riyadh Reads," held at King Saud University until October 5.
Fadel Hussein Bussaim, Deputy Director of the Sharjah International Book Fair and supervisor of the Sharjah Book Authority's pavilion at the Riyadh International Book Fair, noted that this participation aims to showcase the cultural movement in the UAE, particularly Sharjah, while engaging with the Saudi audience and local publishers. The goal is to encourage their participation in the upcoming Sharjah International Book Fair.
He emphasised the Authority's initiatives for publishers, including a translation grant of $4,000 for the book of the year and $1,500 for children's books, as well as the Tarjuman grant, which offers up to $750,000 for the best translations serving Arab and Islamic culture. The pavilion will also address past challenges faced by participants and display a variety of publications, including works for children and young adults, books by the Ruler of Sharjah, and historical texts.
