Sharjah 24: Dr. Saeed Abdullah bin Yarouf, Director of the Department of Antiquities at the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, stated that the Authority, in cooperation with the American University of Sharjah, is organising the “Archaeology of the Arabian Gulf” symposium, which is part of a series of periodic symposiums and lectures conducted by the Authority.
He explained that the "Archaeology of the Arabian Gulf” symposium in Sharjah includes a large number of experts, researchers and academics in the field of cultural heritage and antiquities in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the guests of honour are the Kingdom of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

He added, in statements to "Sharjah 24", that the symposium discussed the latest archaeological discoveries in the participating countries, in addition to the techniques used in the field of research, excavation, archaeological survey and preservation of archaeological pieces, along with reviewing the most important studies locally, Arab and internationally.

The symposium aims to introduce the most important archaeological discoveries in the GCC region and to reflect the distinguished and important position that the region occupied in the history of ancient civilisations and its economic and political role throughout the different ages, in addition to reflecting the pioneering scientific experiments in the field of material heritage and contributing to raising the level of scientific research.
