Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock is participating in the Sharjah Foreign Investment Forum, organised by the Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Office, "Invest in Sharjah," at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. The forum commenced yesterday and will continue until today, featuring a range of institutions and government bodies from the emirate.
The department presented its key projects and services in agriculture and livestock through a detailed information platform. Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabeh Ahmed Alteneiji, Chairman of the department, served as a speaker in a discussion session focused on enhancing food security through smart solutions. This session highlighted the vital role of modern technologies and sustainable practices in achieving and maintaining food security, as well as how innovation can be leveraged to develop the food sector and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
In this regard, Al Tunaiji emphasised that the department’s involvement in this significant economic event underscores its commitment to fostering high-quality local and foreign investments in food security projects, particularly in the agricultural and livestock sectors. This aligns with the Sharjah government’s initiatives and its ongoing development projects throughout various regions and cities of the emirate.
He further stated that the department supports the emirate's efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture, local production, and improving food quality to achieve self-sufficiency, thereby meeting the community's needs for healthy and safe food. This includes initiatives such as the "Sabaa Sanabel" wheat project and "Mleiha Dairy," among others, which employ the latest advanced and smart agricultural technologies, comparable to the best global practices in the field.
He also pointed out that the department's platform at the forum aims to showcase local and international partnerships established to ensure the success of its food projects and to encourage innovative and sustainable agricultural practices. This initiative is crucial for attracting investments in agricultural sustainability, positively influencing the availability of safe, healthy products, and creating more job opportunities for the emirate’s citizens. He highlighted that the forum also serves as an opportunity to discuss current and future economic trends in the agricultural sector and to exchange local and international success stories and experiences.
He pointed out that the department's platform during the forum aims to review the local and international partnerships concluded by the department to ensure the success of its food projects and encourage innovative and sustainable agricultural practices, and its role in attracting investments in the field of agricultural sustainability, which is positively reflected in providing safe and healthy products and creating more job opportunities for the emirate's citizens, noting that the forum also represents an opportunity to discuss current and future economic trends in the agricultural sector and exchange local and international experiences and success stories.
Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of the Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock, said that the forum represents a unique platform for investment and highlighting the importance of smart solutions and their role in protecting sustainable food security.
He added: Sharjah in particular and the UAE in general have made great strides in developing smart agriculture practices to enhance local food production as part of its efforts to achieve its strategic goal of reaching the targets of the National Food Security Strategy by 2051, and reducing carbon emissions in the agricultural and animal sectors, based on the circular economy.
Sharjah has been able to benefit from modern technologies; rather, it has adopted an integrated approach to managing the food security system, and preparing agricultural systems and animal production to respond effectively to climate change, ensuring increased productivity and economic returns in a sustainable manner, so as to adapt to climate change and reduce carbon emissions. The Department’s participation in this forum came to showcase its experience in adopting its food projects, modern technologies, and innovative solutions in its sustainable projects.
