Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sandooq Al Watan recently held a virtual discussion titled "Towards Social Sustainability: Innovations and Challenges" at its Abu Dhabi headquarters, aligning with its participation in the UN Science Summit in New York.
The session featured UAE scholars, including Dr. Matloob Hussain from the University of Sharjah, Dr. Ann Bartlett of UAE University, Dr. Reem Saleh Issa Al-Qurq from Mohammed bin Rashid University, Dr. Leonard Itai Chirindzi of Zayed University, and Dr. Khaled Jalal Ahmed from UAE University. It focused on "Innovative Solutions for Social Sustainability in a Diverse Society" and "Solving Real-World Sustainability Problems," with interactive discussions on practical solutions and ideas.

Yasser Al-Gergawi, Director-General of Sandooq Al Watan, highlighted the workshop's goal to enhance cooperation among UAE scientists, address research challenges, and support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted that such events showcase UAE scientific capabilities and foster innovation, with ongoing support from Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of Sandooq Al Watan.

The session emphasized the connection between social structure and sustainable development in the UAE, discussing topics like corporate social responsibility, social cohesion, and sustainable architecture. It aimed to inspire collective action for building sustainable communities and featured vibrant interactions between local and international researchers.

Dr. Khaled Jalal Ahmed and Dr. Matloob Hussain further discussed integrating social sustainability into various development levels and business practices, stressing the importance of a comprehensive approach to sustainability that includes social, economic, and environmental factors.
