This came during his meeting yesterday with a delegation from the council led by Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, at his office in the Senate headquarters in Brasília.
Pacheco noted that the world needs a platform like the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, the parliamentary committee of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, to promote this noble humanitarian goal. He confirmed his support for the council’s objectives and looked forward to collaborative efforts between the Brazilian Parliament and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.
For his part, Al Jarwan thanked the President of the Brazilian Senate for his significant support for the council's initiatives. He emphasised the importance of working together to advance the cause of tolerance and peace globally.
In a related context, the council’s delegation visited the Brazilian Parliament to enhance international cooperation in the areas of peace, tolerance, and the rejection of violence and extremism. They held a session with several Brazilian officials and parliamentarians.
Discussions focused on ways to strengthen the partnership between the two sides, addressing crucial issues of significant importance given the current challenges. The delegation also discussed the importance of advancing efforts towards a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
