Khalid bin Mohammed stresses UAE’s commitment to Brazil ties

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, met with Alexandre Silveira, Brazil's Minister of Mines and Energy, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations.

Strengthening economic ties between UAE and Brazil

The meeting focused on improving economic relations between the two countries, particularly in energy and mineral exploration sectors. Opportunities for expanding strategic partnerships and sharing modern technologies to support mutual development were explored.

Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Sheikh Khaled witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE and Brazil. The MoU, signed by Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, and Alexandre Silveira, Brazil’s Minister of Mines and Energy, aims to strengthen bilateral relations in energy investments, mineral exploration, and other priority areas.

Building on previous diplomatic engagements

This agreement builds upon the outcomes of  Sheikh Khaled’s official visit to Brazil in November, where discussions with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva centered on clean energy, mineral exploration, and sustainable investments.

Supporting sustainability and innovation

The MoU aims to foster mutual investments in mineral exploration, development, and advanced technologies, with an emphasis on research, development, and workforce education in technical fields. It highlights the UAE's commitment to sustainability and innovation in energy and mining.

Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening strategic relations with Brazil, emphasizing the importance of expertise exchange and joint projects to drive sustainability and mutual benefits.

Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi highlighted the significance of the MoU in enhancing cooperation in mining and energy sectors, supporting the energy transition, and promoting good governance. Strong economic relations between UAE and Brazil

The UAE and Brazil share strong economic ties, with the UAE being Brazil's second-largest trade partner in the Middle East. In the first half of 2024, bilateral non-oil trade exceeded US$2.64 billion.
