Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has successfully installed free rationalisation devices and tools in 66% of 1,330 homes from the second approved list. The initiative covered 2,019 homes in the cities of Sharjah, Khorfakkan, Kalba, and the Central Region. This initiative, launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has a budget of AED20 million allocated towards the implementation of modern technologies aimed at reducing electricity and water consumption based on thorough consumption studies.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, the Director of the Corporate Communications Department, emphasized the Authority's commitment to promoting energy and water conservation as well as implementing best practices in consumption rationalization. The primary objectives include reducing waste, preserving the environment, and minimizing utility bills. He highlighted the increased efforts of the Authority's teams in finalizing the installation of energy-efficient devices and tools in households at no cost. Additionally, 10 qualified work teams have been deployed, following the highest standards. The first phase of initiatives was completed on schedule, and the focus is now on expediting the second phase.

In the second phase, a total of 27,060 electricity-saving devices and tools were installed, along with 6,810 water-saving devices. The installed lighting resulted in a 68% reduction in energy consumption compared to the previous devices, while the water-saving measures achieved a 63% reduction. This led to annual electricity savings of 3,604,583 kilowatt-hours and water savings of 55,133,250 gallons.

Ahmed Al-Mahdar, the Head of the Technical Support Section at the Rationalization Department, stated that the Authority has provided all the necessary resources to ensure the success of the initiative. The work teams have made significant efforts in the installation of internal and external lighting, sensors, timers, energy-efficient heaters, water conservation devices, and parts, all of which adhere to the specifications of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. Their dedication and hard work are evident in the successful completion of the first phase and the ongoing efforts to expedite the second phase. Additionally, they have organized educational events to inform homeowners about best practices and implemented measures to ensure optimal energy and water usage. The initiative has specifically targeted various segments of society, with a focus on those included in the Social Services Department.

The initiative's initial phase involved installing water-saving devices and tools in 2,575 homes in Sharjah. These homes were equipped with 16,220 water-saving devices. Additionally, 661 homes in Khorfakkan received 2,025 water-saving devices, while 625 homes in Kalba were provided with 1,444 water-saving devices and tools. Furthermore, 55 homes in the central region were outfitted with 517 water-saving devices. The first phase has been successfully completed, and efforts are now focused on completing the second phase in its entirety.
