Sharjah 24 – WAM: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), emphasised the UAE's rich parliamentary heritage, highlighting its unique model of Shura (consultative governance), which is evident in the significant achievements of the Council in exercising its powers and responsibilities.
In a statement marking the International Day of Parliamentarism on 30th June, Ghobash noted that this day underscores the United Nations' recognition of the crucial role parliaments play.
“It also highlights the responsibility of parliamentarians to represent their people and fulfil their aspirations for stable, secure, and developed societies,” he said.
Ghobash affirmed that the Federal National Council is committed to aligning with the UAE's official policies, as it actively enhances communication with global communities and parliaments, articulates the UAE's positions on various national, regional, and international issues, and fosters fraternal relations and cooperation with both fraternal and friendly nations.
"Moreover, the FNC aims to build strong parliamentary partnerships with key international institutions and geopolitical groups, promoting the UAE's cultural image to bolster its global standing and leadership, thereby earning respect and admiration from countries and peoples worldwide," he added.
