Sharjah24: Sharjah Finance Department (SFD) has launched the fifth edition of the Internal Awards Project for the year 2024 at its headquarters. The project includes three main awards: the Outstanding Employee Award, the Outstanding Strategic Project Award, and the Outstanding Operational Initiative Award, with 25 subcategories derived from them.
The aim is to establish a positive and advanced work environment based on excellence values, innovation concepts, and creative competition tools. Building on this , His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Finance Department in Sharjah, said that this year's internal awards constitute a major milestone in the department's journey towards establishing a positive and advanced work environment based on excellence values, innovation concepts, and creative competition tools to enhance performance and provide the best services for stakeholders.

The department has successfully organized these awards during the previous four editions , achieving significant and impactful successes in improving both institutional and individual performance according to the best global financial practices. It has also promoted the concepts of excellence, creativity, and quality in both strategic projects and operational initiatives.

His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi emphasized that the new edition of the award adds value to these achievements and contributes to realizing the department's vision and strategic objectives of achieving financial leadership at a distinguished global level. This is done through the development of innovative techniques to achieve financial stability and sustainability. He expressed his confidence in the General Secretariat of the Awards, the judging committee, project and initiative owners, and the departments, believing in their ability to produce an exemplary version that reinforces the department's leading position in government work in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The internal creative awards of the department are characterized by their compatibility and harmony with the latest local, federal, and international excellence practices, taking into consideration the specific requirements of the department and aligning with its vision and mission in the strategic plan of 2023-2025 in general. He added that the design of the Excellence System for the Awards Project was based on successful experiences implemented by the General Secretariat of the Awards in previous excellence editions . It applies standards that help all employees and contribute to all strategic and operational projects and initiatives.

Developing a strategy to provide the best government financial services and support local and global financial excellence trends.

In her opening speech during the ceremony, in the presence of the General Secretariat team of the awards, department managers, offices, department heads, and a group of employees from various administrative levels in the department, Aisha Abdullah Al-Hussani, the Secretary-General of the Internal Awards Project, emphasized the importance of collaborative work through these awards in building a stimulating, motivating, and supportive work environment for serious and effective contributions. She emphasized the activation of communication and coordination mechanisms with all local and federal government entities in order to develop a strategy to provide the best government financial services and support local and global financial excellence trends. She pointed out that the objectives of the internal awards align with these strategic goals of the department, through the three main awards: the Outstanding Employee Award, the Outstanding Project Award, and the Outstanding Initiative Award.

Al-Hussani also noted that the current edition covers the criteria for the award categories for the financial years 2022 and 2023, in addition to the period from January to April 2024.

She also reviewed, within her speech, the list of subcategories for these awards, totaling 25 categories that cover areas of excellence in the workforce, project axes, and initiatives. These include 19 subcategories for the Outstanding Employee category, which will be competed for by 208 employees. The subcategories are as follows: Outstanding Financial Consultant Expert, Outstanding Administrative or Technical Consultant Expert, Outstanding Financial Manager, Outstanding Administrative or Technical Manager (including all administrative and technical managers), Outstanding Financial Department Head, Outstanding Administrative Department Head, Outstanding Technical Department Head, Outstanding Financial Employee, Outstanding Administrative Employee, Outstanding Technical Employee, Outstanding New Financial Employee, Outstanding New Administrative Employee, Outstanding New Technical Employee, Outstanding Administrative Coordinator, Department Star, Outstanding Support Staff, in addition to three additional accompanying categories, including Best Visual Presentations, Best Organized Files in the System, and Best Managers in Encouraging Employee Nomination.

As for the two awards, the Outstanding Strategic Project and the Outstanding Operational Initiative, she mentioned that they include six subcategories: Outstanding Financial Strategic Project, Outstanding Administrative Strategic Project, Outstanding Technical Strategic Project, Outstanding Financial Operational Initiative, Outstanding Administrative Operational Initiative, and Outstanding Technical Operational Initiative.

Increasing the scope of job excellence and inclusivity of the cadre of financial, administrative, and technical experts and advisors.

The Secretary-General of the Internal Awards Project also spoke about the important aspects of the enhancements and new features in the current edition , including increasing the scope of job excellence and inclusivity of the cadre of financial, administrative, and technical experts and advisors. Additionally, the administrative excellence category was separated from the technical excellence category in the cadre of department heads, employees, and new employees. Two new categories were added: the administrative coordinator category and the outstanding support staff category, in addition to categorizing outstanding strategic projects and operational initiatives into financial, administrative, and technical categories.

As part of the developments in the new edition , which are being implemented for the first time in the internal awards editions , the focus of the criteria in the job excellence categories is on the role of the individual category and their contribution to cost optimization and information security processes. All department employees will have the opportunity to participate in selecting the outstanding individuals in the individual categories based on the results of the customer satisfaction criterion.

She reviewed the decision of the senior management to form the Secretariat General of the Internal Awards, mentioning the names and titles of the 11 members from various departments and sections.

She concluded her speech by stating that a group of outstanding employees from the previous edition has been selected and included in the Secretariat General of the Award, affirming that the process of receiving and evaluating nomination files in all categories will continue through the government awards system. Multiple outstanding individuals can be selected for some individual categories based on the number of received nomination files.

Presentation of introductory presentations by the members of the Secretariat General of the Internal Awards

Following the Secretary-General's speech, the members of the Secretariat General of the Internal Awards presented introductory presentations that included explanations of all the conditions, regulations, and criteria for each category, as well as the administrative and technical aspects of the system's procedures. The floor was also opened for questions and inquiries from the attendees.
