Sharjah 24 – SPA: Saudi Arabia has enhanced the pilgrim experience during Hajj by leveraging data and AI technologies, ensuring responsible AI practices. Implemented across 11 airports in seven countries via the Makkah Route Initiative and at 14 entry points in Saudi Arabia, 1,092 workstations with biometric devices, operated 24/7, facilitate smooth entry.
Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of SDAIA, noted that AI systems have improved Hajj operations' productivity, efficiency, and security. SDAIA continually develops its services to optimize performance and provide an efficient pilgrim experience.
Advanced technological services introduced this Hajj season include the Basier and Sawaher platforms. Basier, a real-time computer vision system, manages crowds and vehicle flow in the Grand Mosque. Sawaher uses AI to analyze video feeds and thermal imagery, enhancing security and expanding coverage to key areas in Makkah.
SDAIA also launched over 315 digital services on the Tawakkalna app, including weather updates, Quran recitation, Qibla direction, digital pilgrim cards, entry permits, ambulance requests, and SOS services. The Ehsan platform sponsors Hajj for first-time pilgrims, provides food and water, and facilitates Adahi requests digitally.
