Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) discussed the agenda of upcoming sports events, including organising the second forum to discuss the reality and future of UAE sports on June 24, whose sessions will be devoted to discussing the challenges of the national teams in light of the infrastructure, facilities, human element, and financial support available to them.
During its meeting, chaired by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the SSC, the council agreed to hold an international half marathon race in the name of the Emirate annually, starting next year, and to invite the most important and prominent international runners to participate alongside the Emirati runners, and to adopt the period from January 24 to 29, 2025 to organise the tenth edition of the Sharjah International Cycling Tour.

The council approved the regulations and standards of the Sharjah Excellence Leadership Programme, which it launched last March and included 6 award categories.

During the meeting, the reports submitted by the team and individual sports committees on the Emirate’s clubs and the results achieved by the teams in the current season were also approved, and the needs of the Disabled Committee and the recommendations of the Legal Committee were approved.

The council congratulated Al Ain Club on the first football team’s victory in the 2024 AFC Champions League title, stressing that the great continental achievement was accomplished well and deservedly and made everyone happy, especially since it returned after an absence of 21 years to raise the ceiling of ambition for UAE football in general and its clubs in particular.

It also congratulated the Dibba Al Hisn Club on the occasion of the first football team’s promotion to the ADNOC Professional League 2024-2025, after winning runner-up in the amateur league for the current season.

It stressed that the achievement rewarded sincere efforts from the club’s work system and delighted the Emirate’s fans. It promised to provide all the support the team needs to continue its distinction in the club.
