Organised by Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and Abu Dhabi Sailing Club, the race promotes maritime heritage and UAE National identity and traditions and is the longest race in the UAE in terms of distance, stretching a total of 68 nautical miles (125km), starting from Dalma Island to Al Mugheirah Corniche beach, passing through numerous islands.
Sheikh Hamdan praised the role of the race in promoting maritime heritage and UAE national identity and traditions.
Attracting more than 3,000 sailors aboard 122 dhows to compete for a AED30 million prize pool, the event consolidates marine races' importance as a key contributor to preserving the UAE’s cultural heritage.
