Sharjah 24: At its nineteenth annual meeting, the Sharjah Municipal Council (SMC) reviewed the findings from the various committees. Salem bin Ali Al Muhairi chaired the Sharjah Municipal Council's third meeting for the nineteenth annual session. Members, including the council's vice chairman, Dr Abdullah bin Hamouda Al Ketbi, attended the meeting. Sharjah Municipality's Director of Technical Services, Engineer Khalifa bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, and Council Secretary Ali Saeed Al-Ketbi were also in attendance.
The meeting was dedicated to reviewing the committee reports for the nineteenth annual session. The heads of the several committees gave brief presentations outlining their findings and recommendations.
The Planning and Development Committee, after several coordination meetings with relevant authorities, prepared a draft resolution from the Executive Council regarding the regulation of planting specific trees. Additionally, work was underway to draft legislation for the regulation and classification of bicycles by the Violations and Health Services Committee and Environmental Protection Committee, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
The Financial and Administrative Affairs Committee discussed the executive regulations of the Public Cleanliness Law in Sharjah. The Arbitration and Contractor Dispute Resolution Committee highlighted its achievements, while the Traffic and Roads Committee addressed road-related issues, especially those near schools, coordinating with the Roads and Transport Authority to address residents' feedback.
The "Labiyh" programme, which aims to reach out to more people through suburban and village councils, was one of the projects evaluated by the Social Communication Committee. Both the Committee for Organising Bachelor Housing Affairs and the Land Requests Study Committee submitted reports outlining the steps taken to reduce infractions in specific bachelor quarters.
In closing remarks, Al Muhairi thanked all committees for their work and singled out Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, for the speed with which the municipality had responded to and implemented the public-benefit recommendations made by the Municipal Council.
