SCC Committee reviews establishing a Rental Disputes Centre

Sharjah 24: The Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) held a meeting to review a draft law regarding the establishment and organisation of the Rental Disputes Centre in the Emirate of Sharjah.
This came during the meeting held by the committee, on Monday, at the Council’s headquarters in Sharjah, which was chaired by Muhammad Ali Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee. 

The meeting was attended by Hamad Abdul Wahab Al Qawadi, rapporteur of the committee, and members Muhammad Saleh Al Ali, Hamad Abdullah Al Riyami, Rashid Saleh Al Hammadi, Khalifa Muhammad Bu Ghanem and Obaid Ishaq Al Mazmi.  From the General Secretariat of the Council, Youssef Hassan Al Ali, Legal Advisor to the Council, Director of the Parliamentary Affairs Department; and Saif Salem bin Suef Al Ketbi, Secretary of the Committee.

The committee, through its members and the General Secretariat of the Council, was keen to formulate its opinion on the articles of the draft law referred to SCC by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, based on Clause Four of Article 7 of Law No. 2 of 1999 regarding the establishment of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah and in accordance with the provisions of Article 72 of SCC internal regulations.  Accordingly, the committee reviewed the goals of establishing the Rental Disputes Centre in the Emirate of Sharjah as a judicial centre that aims to develop and legislate procedures for adjudicating rental disputes to achieve complete justice and quality of rulings in all stages of litigation at the centre.

The committee discussed the definitions, objectives, competencies, and entities attached to the draft law, as well as the work mechanisms regulating powers and exercising tasks and roles.
