Sharjah24: Form the Brazilian Amazon Forest to the heart of Sharjah, Junior Hekurari, came to the International Photography Festival (Xposure) to spark light on the Brazilian indigenous people's issues and their rights.
On the last day of Xposure, Junior Hekurari, a leader of the Yanomami indigenous people from Brazil, and the guest of honour of the Environmental Summit at Xposure who spared no efforts to shed light on exhausted issues that the Brazilian indigenous people suffer from. He come from the Amazon Rainforest, large tropical rainforest occupying the Amazon basin and covering an area of 2300000 square. He is the President of the Ohidi Association which is fighting for the rights of the Yanomami indigenous population lives in the Amazon Forest.
Junior Hekurari strives to call for the rights of the Yanomami indigenous people who suffer from invasion of the non-indigenous people who come to their home land to pillage gold and leaving amazon river polluted. He believes that his people has the rights to live in peace and enjoy its bounties, free from harm.
Junior Hekurari utilized from his presence at the International Photography Festival (Xposure) to present the Yanomami indigenous population’s issue and delved deep to their suffering as they live in one of the significant sites of the earth “ Lung of the World” .
The Guest of Honour of the Environmental Summit expressed his pleasure for taking part in the International Photography Festival (Xposure) and appreciated the media team for organizing this stunning event.
