The meeting, held on Tuesday, was attended by Humaid Al Mansouri, Parliamentary Attaché from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Halima Al Owais, Vice Chairman of SCC; SCC members, Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi, Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden, and Ibrahim Muhammad Al Mansouri; and Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of SCC. The meeting was also attended by Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for Children (APC).
Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of SCC welcomed Ambassador Mohammed Ismail Al Sahlawi, expressing his pleasure at his visit to the Council’s headquarters, and expressing his appreciation for the Ambassador’s efforts in strengthening the UAE’s foreign relations and enhancing bilateral cooperation with Belgium, the European Union, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Ambassador Mohammed Ismail Al Sahlawi expressed his gratitude for the SCC visit, stressing the importance of the Council’s role as a leading parliamentary body in the Emirate of Sharjah, its role in formulating policies, supporting the aspirations of society, and its contribution to achieving sustainable development in the emirate.
During the meeting, the Council's work was reviewed and its corridors and halls were toured, in addition to a visit to the library.
Methods of strengthening cooperation and partnership relations between the Emirate of Sharjah and relevant European institutions were tackled, especially parliamentary, economic and cultural cooperation, in addition to discussing Arab childhood, the main topic of concern in Sharjah.
Discussions included reviewing the most important opportunities available to enhance parliamentary, cultural, economic and educational exchange, in addition to examining ways to enhance dialogue and mutual support in international fora and conferences, highlighting aspects of development, in addition to consulting on issues of common interest, and reviewing the achievements of the Emirate of Sharjah in the fields of culture, arts, heritage, childhood.
The two parties stressed the importance of intensifying mutual visits and continuing dialogue, coordination and consultation to keep pace with global developments.
