Sharjah24 - WAM: The South Korean national team qualified for the semi-finals of the AFC Asian Cup, currently being held in the Qatari capital Doha, after defeating its Australian counterpart 2-1 today at the Al Janoub Stadium.
With this win, the South Korean national team will face the Jordanian national team in the next round, which qualified at the expense of Tajikistan.
The match between the two national teams extended into extra time after regulation ended in a 1-1 draw.
Australia opened the scoring through Craig Goodwin in the 42nd minute, only for South Korea's Hwang Hee-chan to equalise from the penalty spot in the 90th minute. In the first half of extra time, South Korea scored the winning goal after Son Heung-min converted a free kick in the 104th minute.
