The championship witnessed the participation of over 280 players representing 20 clubs and private academies. It encompassed various age and gender categories, including first and second-degree juniors, first and second-degree girls, under-21 males in the first and second degree, under-21 females in the first and second degree, along with categories for youngsters.
The karate champions from Sharjah Sports Club entered the competition with a total of 48 players across different categories. Consequently, the team maintained its leading position in the overall standings for the Union Karate Championship in the individual kata category for the third consecutive year.
In terms of the overall medal count, the karate champions of Sharjah Sports Club achieved the highest tally, earning a total of 41 coloured medals across all participating categories. The youngsters' category secured 13 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze medals, while the junior, female, and under-21 categories earned 5 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
The championship will continue in the following week with the Emirates Open Championship (Individual Kata) for the youth, young adults, and men categories.
