Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Department of Culture (SDC) honoured the winners of the fourteenth Sharjah Award for Fine Arts Critical Research, organised by SDC Department of Cultural Affairs.
The award came under the title “The Role of Translation in Modern Fine Criticism.”
The honouring ceremony was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Secretary General of the Award; in addition to the winners, the jury, and a large number of artists participating in the Islamic Arts Festival.
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer pointed to the continued support of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for the award, saying that for more than 14 years, Sharjah Award for Fine Arts Critical Research strengthened the presence of the critical aspect in the Arab plastic arts, and since its establishment, has received continuous support from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The Director of the Cultural Affairs Department added that the award, along with the winners in the current edition, presented to the Arab critical library more than 46 critics. He explained that each edition of the award receives research from all Arab countries, which confirms the uniqueness of the award, in its artistic presentation and creativity at the level of the Arab world.
