Sharjah24: The 'Made in Anji' Furniture Expo, a first-of-its-kind event in the region, has commenced today at Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS) and will run until December 13. The event, supported by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), brings together over 26 Chinese companies specialising in furniture and furnishings. The expo showcases a selection of suppliers and the most important Chinese brands in the industry.
The three-day event was inaugurated by HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Expo Centre Sharjah. Notable attendees included HE Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, SCCI, and HE Mohamed Hilal, member of SCCI Board of Directors; HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah; Ning Yun, Deputy Secretary, County Magistrate, Anji County People's Government; and Marwan Al Mashghouni, Director of Government Relations at Expo Centre Sharjah, along with other government officials and event organisers.
The attendees toured the exhibition being organised by MIE Events, where they were briefed on the pavilions and stands taking part in the Expo and engaged with exhibitors, who provided insights into their diverse range of products and exhibits featured at the exhibition. Visitors also had the opportunity to discover the latest in furnishings, home décor, and interior designs.
During the fair, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the government of Anji province. In addition to strengthening trade relations and fostering collaborative initiatives, the MoU aims to encourage, bolster, and facilitate economic cooperation between the business communities of both nations. The MoU was signed by HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais and Ning Yun.
The memorandum sets forth a framework for both parties to facilitate the exchange of trade delegations and engage in discussions on exports and economic strategies. It supports the organization of follow-up visits and the creation of a commercial network to ease trade opportunities between the two countries. The agreement also includes provisions for sharing commercial information, data, and statistics and for initiating joint research activities.
Furthermore, the memorandum emphasizes the importance of mutual participation in events, exhibitions, and trade conferences. It highlights the value of exchanging experiences, knowledge, and training opportunities, reinforcing the commitment of both sides to deepen their economic and trade ties.
His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais emphasized that the SCCI is committed to promoting economic and trade relations, as well as mutual investments between the Emirate of Sharjah and the People's Republic of China, through various initiatives such as holding joint working meetings, signing MoUs, and organizing collaborative events and exhibitions.
The'Made in Anji' Furniture Expo is a key example of this, being the second in a series of Chinese exhibitions hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah, something which reflects Expo Centre’s growing importance as a hub for Chinese companies looking to expand their presence in the region's markets through the Exhibition Sector gateway.
Highlighting its significance, Al Owais said that the'Made in Anji' Furniture Expo is expected to support local markets with products from leading Chinese companies in home furniture, furnishings, accessories, and decoration design, showcasing their quality and diversity to the Sharjah community and beyond.
For his part, His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Midfa stressed that the exhibition represents a significant addition to the ongoing series of events dedicated to the furniture and furnishings sector, all meticulously hosted and organized by Expo Centre Sharjah.
He added that the centre is keen to ensure the success of this event, aiming to provide an exceptional edition that grants both residents and visitors of Sharjah a unique opportunity to explore the latest offerings in furniture supplies and modern home products. Al Midfa noted that the event provides a valuable platform to gain insights into the latest furniture products manufactured in the renowned Chinese city of Anji, celebrated for the diversity and outstanding quality of its products.
Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the exhibition offers a wide range of the latest and finest furnishings, modern home goods, high-quality products, kitchen appliances, modern home appliances, and garden equipment and tools.
