SSSD succeeds in enrolling 260 women in literacy prgms.

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) has made significant strides in its mission to address illiteracy and promote education in the community. Through their efforts, they have successfully involved 260 elderly women in literacy programmes, with the oldest participant being 87 years old.
These programmes comea as part of the Department's efforts to implement community initiatives, aiming to empower different segments of society, especially the elderly, to learn and enhance their skills.

Commenting on this, Mariam Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Social Education Department at the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) highlighted the significance of these literacy programmes, which cater to individuals at various levels of proficiency, ranging from introductory to advanced. Participants engage in exacting educational sessions throughout the week to strengthen their foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Maryam Saeed Al Muhairi, Head of the Department’s Continuing Education Department, highlighted the significance of implementing these programmes, stressing that they come as part of the Department's commitment to fostering collaboration with specialised institutions and departments.

According to Al Muhairi, the Sharjah Social Services Department is committed to offering assistance to different groups in society. They have established 18 educational centres in various locations, including Sharjah, Al-Hamriyah, Al-Dhaid, Al-Bataeh, Maliha, Al-Madam, Dibba Al-Hisn, Khorfakkan, and Kalba.
