According to Lt. General Saif Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, "many people visit the desert areas during the holidays to enjoy the rainy weather, including young people and sand dune riding enthusiasts who engage in wrong practices in these areas; this leads to the occurrence of many accidents and exposes their lives and the lives of others to danger."
Lt. General Al Shamsi sent a message to visitors to those areas, including fans of riding motorcycles and four-wheel-drive vehicles, saying that desert areas are places that families visit with their children to spend enjoyable times away from the hustle and bustle of cities and their congestion during the winter season. Everyone has the right to enjoy the emirate's unique and appealing environmental and tourist diversity, while keeping in mind that the feeling of safety and security is a shared responsibility and that everyone must abide by security regulations, violations of which may result in tragedies that shift feelings from happiness and relaxation to sadness and loss.
