Sharjah Safari secures silver WDU’s classification certificate

Sharjah24: The Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA) has announced that the "Sharjah Safari" has been awarded a silver classification certificate from the World Disability Union, recognizing it as a disability-friendly entity for its outstanding efforts and full readiness to cater to this important segment of society and provide services that meet their needs.
The certificate was received during a ceremony honoring the organizations and entities implementing environmental standards for people with disabilities, granting them accreditation as disability-friendly entities, particularly for those with mobility impairments.

"Sharjah Safari" has achieved a global leadership position in the field of ecotourism
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, congratulated the team behind the Sharjah Safari project for receiving this certificate. The certificate confirms the project's global leadership position in ecotourism and its provision of a safe and comprehensive entertainment experience for all visitors, including people with disabilities. They receive a high level of services and facilities, including supportive equipment, during their visit to the project and while enjoying the different natural environments it encompasses, along with the various animals and birds it houses.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, stated: "The remarkable local and global achievements of the project embody the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in prioritizing the care for people with mobility impairments, supporting their capabilities, highlighting their abilities, and facilitating their participation in various social activities."

The Sharjah Safari represents an ideal and appropriate environment that caters to the mobility needs of people with disabilities. It is committed to implementing all local and international environmental standards specifically designed for individuals with disabilities. At the same time, the project focuses on providing necessary training for staff to interact with this important segment and harnessing all the capabilities and facilities that make their experience easy and safe. 

The EPAA, through the project, ensures the application of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and translates its provisions by enhancing and developing services provided to individuals with disabilities in all facilities and environments within the Sharjah Safari. This includes the suitability of construction design for these facilities, their vitality, the provisions of facilities and services, as well as social empowerment. This contributes to enhancing the project's contribution to achieving the targets of social integration for people with disabilities and encouraging their participation with the rest of the community in all recreational, tourist, and social activities and events.
