Sharjah24: The 13th edition of the "Publishers Conference" began today with more than 1050 publishers from 106 countries and a distinguished panel of global publishing industry experts, literary agents, and thought leaders, according to Mansour Al Hassani, Director of Publishers Services Department at the Sharjah Book Authority.
According to Al Hassani, who spoke with Sharjah 24, the current conference features both keynote addresses and workshops. The Publishers Conference has over 42 publishing professionals delivering 31 workshops.
Mansour Al-Hasani noted that the Publishers Conference began with a keynote speech by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority's Board of Directors, followed by the speech of the guest of honour from South Korea and a speech by Penguin Random House Group CEO.
Al-Hasani said the specialty workshops address the global publishing industry's present and future. On the second and third days, publishers will come together to discuss deals, share experiences, and apply for translation grants.
