The Planetarium and Space Exhibition Department conducted diverse activities featuring interesting shows and valuable scientific films in the Sharjah Planetarium, which is equipped with the latest laser display devices, as well as conducted fun scientific experiments simulating space, astronomy, and the universe. Numerous competitions such as “Martian Rover,” and “Space Treasure” were also organized with valuable gifts awarded to the winners.
Furthermore, SAASST’s Sharjah Optical Observatory (SOO) organized a stargazing event, where participants had the opportunity to observe various stars, planets, and celestial bodies including Saturn, through high-precision telescopes, and were provided with a detailed explanation of the stars, astronomical constellations, and the movement of the celestial bodies. The Space Sciences Department is conducting informative lectures on radio astronomy and CubeSats to promote knowledge and understanding of astronomy and satellites.
SAASST has also participated in the 74th International Astronautical Congress held in Baku, Azerbaijan, with 23 scientific papers to highlight the Academy’s achievements in the field of astronomy and space sciences. The congress falls within the World Space Week celebrations.
