Sharjah 24: The fourth batch of the "Proud Teacher" programme, launched by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) under the Sultan Al Qasimi Project for Emiratisation in the private education sector, signifies a new phase in its implementation.
This phase aims to empower local talents in the private education sector, building on the success of previous programme batches that produced outstanding national teaching professionals.
The fourth batch focuses on preparing graduates in fields such as Arabic language, Islamic studies, early childhood education, mathematics, science, biology, chemistry, and physics. These graduates will be placed in private schools within the Emirate of Sharjah, contributing to the enrichment of the educational landscape with exceptional local talents.
This phase consists of two groups: the first group includes 25 candidates who have met the GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher and successfully passed the English language test. They will undergo the hiring process and enrol in the postgraduate diploma programme in education at the Sharjah Academy for Education. The second group comprises 25 candidates who did not meet the GPA requirement and are required to join a bridging programme in the coming months, which will run for two months.
The "Proud Teacher" programme, launched in September 2019, is a pioneering initiative in the region, aiming to localise the private education sector. Its outstanding outcomes have resulted in the graduation of 85 qualified teachers from its previous three batches.
Following its launch, the Sharjah Private Education Authority initiated the programme's implementation in early 2020 after developing the necessary plans and strategies. The programme's goal is to graduate specialised national talents in the field of education in Sharjah. The first batch, consisting of 42 teachers, completed the educational diploma programme at the University of Sharjah over the course of a full academic year.
Dr. Muhadditha Yahya Al Hashimi, the Chairperson of Sharjah Private Education Authority, underscores the importance of the "Proud Teacher" programme and similar initiatives as fundamental components of the developmental efforts pursued by the Sharjah Private Education Authority across various domains. She attributes the programme's academic achievements to the vision and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, Director of SPEA, highlights the significant contribution of the "Proud Teacher" programme over the past three years to the educational community. The programme has enriched the field with exceptional local talents, as evidenced by its graduates who have joined their peers in various educational roles in Sharjah's private schools, sharing their knowledge and expertise to advance and enhance the education sector.
The programme has continued with successive batches, with the second batch specialising in early childhood education in 2022, consisting of 20 female teachers, some of whom were appointed to government nurseries in Sharjah. The third batch, consisting of 23 female teachers with diverse specialisations, is currently progressing through their programme.
