Sharjah 24: His Excellency Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police (SP), on Wednesday, inaugurated the interactive awareness platform “Be Aware” under the slogan “Stop.. Think.. Protect”, in City Centre Al Zahia, in Sharjah. The inauguration came within the efforts of the awareness campaign, launched by the Criminal Investigations Department and the Department of Media and Public Relations in cooperation with strategic partners, with the aim of enhancing the security awareness of community members, in the field of electronic security. The platform’s activities will continue until September 22nd.
The inauguration was attended by Brigadier General Ahmed Al Serkal, Director General of Police Operations; Brigadier Abdullah bin Nassar, Deputy Director General of Resources and Support Services; Brigadier Ibrahim Al Ajel, Deputy Director General of Police Operations; Brigadier Omar Abu Al Zoud, Director of the Criminal Investigations Department; Colonel Dr.. Muhammad Butti Al Hajri, Deputy Director of the Department of Media and Public Relations; and a number of department directors and heads, in addition to media representatives and community members.
Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer confirmed that the interactive platform is a direct communication channel between the police and all society members, and aims to enhance their security awareness through different innovative staions, and to introduce them to methods of prevention and protection from electronic crimes.
Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer pointed to the great responsibility that falls on the security and police authorities in preserving the security and stability of the society’s digital life, especially that the world relies primarily on technology, which allows fraudsters to negatively exploit it, which forces police to intensify protection measures with innovative, advanced awareness-raising methods that prevent falling into scams, fraud and extortion in all forms.
The “Be Aware” awareness platform includes 6 interactive stations: the electronic blackmail station, the telephone fraud station, the electronic scam station, the digital plagiarism station, and the hacking station, in addition to the interactive electronic games station designated for children, as they are the most important target group in the awareness campaign, and given the great demand among children for technological games without being aware of the serious consequences in this area.
The platform also includes a corner for awareness programmes and workshops dedicated to school students, in cooperation with the Emirates Foundation for School Education.
Sharjah Police invited all members of society to visit its awareness platform in City Centre Al Zahiafrom 10 am to 10 pm, over the course of 10 days, to learn about the risks they may face if they are exposed to electronic blackmail and fraud, and ways to prevent them.
