Sharjah 24: A mobile salon for senior citizens, a distinguished service by Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), which spares no effort in providing services, programmes and initiatives that bring joy and happiness to senior citizens.
SSSD’s Senior Services Centre continuously seeks to create new ideas that are in senior citizens interest.

Kholoud Al Ali, Director of the Senior Citizens Services Centre said that the “Mobile Salon” is a new addition to the centre’s different services, which include the city of Sharjah and the branches affiliated with the department.

Regarding the goal of the mobile salon, Al Ali stated that the centre goal is to provide self-care services to senior citizens registered in home care, which is a new service, to members, as part of a series of innovative social services annually.

The “mobile salon for senior citizens” service, was launched two months ago. The number of beneficiaries of the service in Sharjah and the branches has so far exceeded 60 male and female members, and work is underway to provide the service to the largest number of male and female members who need it, especially since the initiative had a good impact on the hearts of senior citizens.

The director of the Senior Citizens Services Centre added that the centre developed a plan for visits according to each member’s need for the service, not less than twice a week, and services are provided by a specialised team qualified and trained to provide the service to this age group specifically.

Kholoud Al Ali pointed out that the mobile salon service for senior citizens falls within the strategic activity of the Senior Citizens Services Centre, which is about offering innovative home social services, like the “Mishwar” service that was previously launched to drive senior citizens from their homes to the places they want to visit, and the centre is in the process of launching other services in the coming months.

Last week, SSSD, Al Madam Branch, introduced the innovative home service, the mobile salon, and provided different services to a number of senior citizens, including pedicure, manicure (care for toenails and hands), henna application, and other services.
