Sharjah 24: Sharjah Ladies Club has successfully hosted a Japanese Matsuri, as part of its efforts to bring diverse and enriching experiences to its clientele. The celebration was held at Kunooz Events and Catering between midday and 9pm and featured an array of workshops for participants of all age groups.
The event was conveniently held during the summer season, and offered members a fantastic selection of entertaining activities. Emphasizing the cultural bonds between Japan and the UAE, the event was an opportunity to showcase Japan’s rich culture and traditions.

Speaking afterwards, Duaa Al Mahri, Director of Corporate Communication at Sharjah Ladies Club, said: “This incredible Matsuri was designed to be a fun and informative occasion, providing our members with insight into a different way of living. It not only allowed us to celebrate Japanese culture, but also enabled us to give our members a unique and unforgettable experience.”

Inspired by Japanese customs, the event featured a variety of activities and workshops, including Matcha workshop and Ikebana flower arranging. One of the highlights was the Kanji workshops, where participants were given a chance to master the basics of Japanese calligraphy, write their own names and create artistic masterpieces on fans and paper.

Sharjah Ladies Club facilities joined in on the celebrations, with Orchid Beauty Boutique offering henna painting using Japanese characters and Japanese hairstyle. Lafeef Restaurant served up all manner of Japanese delicacies, such as sushi and noodle dishes, while Collage Talent Center hosted a Sakura beach hat painting workshop.

Children were also included in the fun, with Basateen Preschool Centre creating a special children’s corner with Japanese-themed arts and crafts. Kids enjoyed classic anime films and took part in hair braiding and accessory making, to really immerse them in Japanese culture.

The event was praised as a huge success, just the latest in a long line of activities staged to provide enriching and multicultural experiences for the Club’s members. The Japanese Matsuri celebration was a triumph of both education and enjoyment and stands as a testament to the Club’s ongoing commitment to promoting an outward-looking worldview and deep cultural appreciation.
