The Portuguese parliament's resolution, in which it condemned the Israeli occupation's expansionist and annexation policy and asked the Portuguese government to take a clear position in defending the right of the Palestinian people as guaranteed by international conventions, is a step on the right direction towards the Palestinian issue, it said in a press release.
It called on the international community to build on this step in a way that would lead to halting the crimes and violation of the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people.
The Portuguese parliament had overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution recognising Nakba Day or Day of Catastrophe when Israel was created at the expense of the forced expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homeland.
