Jarwan added that in accordance with the standard procedures for reviewing draft laws, the Council will thoroughly examine the proposed law, taking into account any comments or suggestions. Each article of the law will be carefully considered, and amendments will be made or maintained as presented by the Executive Council.
Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Member of the Executive Council, Head of the Social Services Department in Sharjah, emphasised the significance of the proposed law, which aligns with the remarkable progress being witnessed in Sharjah. She highlighted the commitment of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the dedicated oversight of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council. Their focus is on supporting families, providing social welfare, and promoting a decent quality of life for individuals and families.
During the discussion, various potential approaches were explored to enhance the role of the Department of Social Services, utilising its expertise and the departments under its umbrella, to develop effective social policies and ensure the sustainable provision of services, including care and social protection.
The Council addressed the contents of the proposed law, focusing on the objectives aimed at strengthening the role of the Department of Social Services in raising community awareness, promoting social values, facilitating social integration, and equipping individuals with protection and prevention skills.
Following the discussion, the Council unanimously approved the draft law and the Secretary-General of the Council, Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, announced that the upcoming seventeenth session, scheduled for June 15th, will mark the end of the fourth regular legislative term. The agenda will include deliberations on the Council's recommendations regarding the Municipal Affairs Department's policy.
