Sharjah24: The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) organised "The Arabic Manuscript Collection of El Escorial" Exhibition, running from 2-9 April, showcasing 14 rare manuscripts dating back 1,500 years. Sharjah is also the first city to host an exhibition of the largest collection of rare Arabic artifacts from the El Escorial Library outside of Spain. His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority stated that the displayed manuscripts are ancient Andalusian manuscripts that reflect their ancient history, including approximately 14 rare manuscripts dating back to the 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries, and were preserved in Spain in a professional way to protect them from damage.
He stressed that the Emirate of Sharjah and Spain contracted through partnerships to bring these precious manuscripts to the smiling emirate.
Al Ameri confirmed in exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24" that the manuscripts contain many important cultural treasures and are considered witnesses to the ancient Islamic civilisation and its broad history in Andalusia. He added that displaying these manuscripts in the exhibition is a rare opportunity for the public to view these precious books and learn about the history and culture of the Arabs in Andalusia.
The Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority concluded that the exhibition reflects the cultural cooperation between the Emirate of Sharjah and Spain.
