The palace and the clinic will be home to the artworks of the Sharjah Art Foundation.
During His Highness visit to the Arts Palace, His Highness learned about the most important restoration works that were carried out for the palace, to make it ready to serve the activities, programmes and art exhibitions of the Sharjah Art Foundation.
The history of the palace dates back to the fifties of the twentieth century, when Sheikh Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi began building it, and Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Qasimi completed it after him in the sixties.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah was briefed on the artworks displayed in the palace within the current edition of the Sharjah Biennial.
During the inauguration of Al Dhaid old clinic building, His Highness learned about the works of the Sharjah Biennial displayed in the clinic building that reflects its theme “Thinking Historically in the Present.”
The works are presented by artists from different countries of the world who reflect their artistic vision of various historical and contemporary issues and events.
The 15th edition of the Sharjah Biennial is the first in which the city of Al Dhaid hosts its activities through a group of buildings and spaces, including the building of Al Dhaid old clinic and the Arts Palace.
His Highness was accompanied during the event by: Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Art Foundation, Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhair Al Ketbi, Minister of Federal Supreme Council Affairs, and a number of senior officials, heads of government departments and dignitaries of the region.
