Allay: 'Spartan' attracts thousands of participants in Khorfakkan

Sharjah 24: His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), affirmed the SGMB's keenness to diversify its activities to include culture, arts and sports which will benefit the community of the Emirate of Sharjah.
The SGMB organised, on Saturday, in the vicinity of the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, the Spartan race competitions in Khorfakkan, in cooperation with the international "Spartan" for the first time in the coastal city, with a large participation of males and females, and children from 4-11 years.

His Excellency said in statements to “Sharjah 24” that organising the sporting event, the largest of its kind, comes as part of its endeavours and plan of activities that are meaningful and appropriate to the various segments of society.

His Excellency added that the race included 3 competitions for different sports, such as running, hiking and other fitness sports.

His Excellency stated that more than 2,200 contestants from different nationalities of the world participated in the competitions that covered the city's mountains, valleys, and beaches.

His Excellency pointed out that choosing the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre to host the starting and ending point of the race, being an architectural masterpiece that represents the most prominent landmarks of the city, would promote Khorfakkan's attractive tourism potential.
