Sharjah 24: More than 500 performers and authors from throughout the Arab world gathered in Casablanca from January 10–16 for the Arab Theatre Festival's thirteenth edition. Eleven of the fifteen theatrical performances competed for His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's award.
At the end of the closing ceremony, the jury revealed that the winning play was "Rahal Al Nahar," written by Ismail Abdullah and directed by Mohammed Al Amiri for the Sharjah National Theatre.
According to an announcement made by Arab Theatre Institute Secretary General Ismail Abdullah, the next edition will be held in Baghdad with the support of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, the Cinema and Theatre Department, and the Iraqi Artists Syndicate.
