Sharjah24: Driven by its commitment to social responsibility and as part of its continuous efforts to bolster family leisure, Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is hosting the third edition of its winter extravaganza “Lamma” at the Sharjah Archaeology Museum from today December 21 and until the 25th.
Coinciding with schools’ winter break and over the course of five days, a number of museums under the umbrella of SMA are organizing dozens of educational and entertainment activities and workshops between 4:00PM and until 11:00PM that target public members from all age groups.
Visitors will be given a warm welcome from the official museum-loving cartoon characters Hamdan and Alya, enjoy story-telling times and take part in exciting competitions, various fun-filled activities and educational workshops, outdoor cinema, entertainment shows and interactive playgrounds, in addition to food trucks.
Workshops held on the sidelines of the event will allow participants to design a model of Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), make pottery, and write names in Arabic calligraphy as well as boost their knowledge about the nature of the eastern coast of the Emirate of Sharjah through a corner dedicated for the Sharjah Aquarium.
This year’s edition of Lamma” also coincides with the anniversary of Sharjah Archaeology Museum which was first opened on January 5, 1993 as the first museum showcasing findings that document the Emirate’s rich history across different ages and has since inception held numerous exceptional exhibitions such as “Deir el-Medina: Village of the Pharaohs' Artists”, "The Splendid Archaeology of Kuwait” and the currently held “Omani Civilisation: Origin & Development” exhibition, among many others.
