Sharjah 24: The 21st UIM F1H2O World Champion will be determined tomorrow (Sunday) with the conclusion of the Sharjah Grand Prix of the Middle East – the final world championship round of the 2022 season- organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council.
The concluding day will commence at 8:30 am with two free practice sessions followed by a qualification lap to determine racers’ starting positions in the 3 pm Sharjah Grand Prix of the Middle East, which will be the grounds for a high-octane battle between Shaun Torrente (Boat 6) and Thani Al Qemzi (Boat 5) from the Abu Dhabi team, and the current UIM F1H2O World Champion Jonas Andersson (Boat 1).

On Friday, the Swedish world champion won the Road to Sharjah Grand Prix of Sharjah race, snatching 20 valuable points that placed him 3 points behind Torrente, who is currently topping the UIM F1H2O Championship chart, and suffered electrical problems and poor engine performance, which caused him to finish the race in the sixth position. Teammate Al Qemzi was the 7th to cross the finish line, which lowered his world championship rank this season to third place with 59 points.
