Sharjah24: Sharjah Munshid, organised by Sharjah TV, an affiliate of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), has announced 12 finalists that will compete for the title of the 14th edition of the programme.
The talent show which became a magnet for attracting gifted vocalists and offers an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring 'munshids' practising the Islamic-inspired musical genre of 'anashid' to showcase their singing skills.
The finalists who will be competing for the coveted title 'Sharjah Munshid' include Abdulaziz Alawi from Saudi Arabia, Yahya Nadi from Egypt, Abdul Bari Karroum from Algeria, Ezz El Din Al-Esawy from Morocco, Muhammad Al-Masha'leh from Jordan, Uday Al Akhras from Palestine, Issa Shammout from Syria, and Sultan Daoud Al-Ali from the UAE, Abdullah Al Omari from Lebanon, Makhlid Al Jabry from Oman, Muhammad Al Rifai from Iraq, and Muhammad Al Wafi Idris from Libya.
The qualifying rounds were held in 7 Arab countries, namely the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Oman, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to receiving applications for participation via the Internet, which represented an opportunity for talented people to participate in the qualifiers from anywhere in the world.
This year, the programme's examination committee received 27 participants in Saudi Arabia, 34 in Oman, 41 in the UAE, 270 in Egypt, 197 in Algeria, 205 in Morocco, 34 in Jordan, and 624 online participants of various nationalities, including Arab talents from a number of countries.
The finals for the competition will commence on December 15 at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, with the participation of experts and vocal trainers to guide and assist the aspiring 'munshids'.
Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of Sharjah TV, said: "By announcing finalists in the 14th edition, a new season of Sharjah Munshid begins. It has become a major arts and culture event that brings together lovers of the Islamic-inspired musical genre of 'anashid' while providing aspiring singers with a launch pad for their musical careers."
He added: "We expect strong competition in the 14th edition, which continues its mission to present the Arabic and international scene with amazing talents and introduce the public to the diversity, complexity and beauty of this artform that originates from several cultures."
