Sharjah 24 –WAM: Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, attended a lecture organised by Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed, titled, “Ambitious Global Approach to Drive Economic Growth”.
Held at Al Bateen Palace, the lecture was also attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and several Sheikhs and officials.
The lecturer, Professor Mariana Mazzucato, Founder and Director of the Institute of Innovation and Public Purpose at University College London (UCL) in the UK, talked about many relevant issues, including the importance of innovation and focusing on addressing major global economic challenges, in addition to the issues that affect the climate, health, livelihoods and geopolitics.
She also discussed the need for a task-based framework and its key role in creating a more inclusive and sustainable economy, as well as the reasons for the failure of current policies to create a proactive framework that enables governments to confront related challenges and the efficacy of this global approach in addressing them.
Furthermore, she elaborated on ideas from the discussions of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority and how investing in early childhood should be a joint endeavour carried out by entities from both the public and private sectors.
Mazzucato lauded the UAE’s great efforts related to climate action and clean energy, as well as its global initiatives and the success of the Emirates Mars Mission. She also spotlighted UAE's planned lunar mission.
