Sharjah24 – AFP: The European Space Agency (ESA) unveils its new class of career astronauts. Of the 22,500 applicants, three men and two women were selected, including Sophie Adenot, the first French woman since Claudie Haignere in the 1990s.
Commenting on this, Sophie Adenot, ESA astronaut class of 2022 said, "I think I grew up with the soul of an explorer. Always trying to find out a little bit more about what's going on. And then come back to your peers with a fresh eye. It took a bit of daring. It took a lot of work and above all the support of many people. So the curiosity, the audacity to go into space. Yes, it makes me dream."
She added, "I've always dreamt about space for a very long time. My sister often jokes with me: 'When I was a little girl, the only poster in your room was a poster of a rocket'. So yes, I've been thinking about it for a while."
